A Change records a planning recommendation or decision. A Task records an action someone must perform. Clients can see selected Changes in a Guide and client-assigned Tasks under My Tasks in the portal.
Use a Change for the recommendation
Examples include increasing retirement savings, rebalancing an investment account, updating insurance coverage, completing an estate document, or adopting a tax-planning strategy.
Write the intended financial outcome, not every administrative step.
Use a Task for execution
Examples include sending a transfer form, uploading a policy declaration, changing a payroll election, or scheduling an attorney meeting.
Assign the Task to the person who owns the work and add a useful due date. Advisor-assigned Tasks remain advisor work. Client-assigned Tasks appear under My Tasks.
Create a Task linked to a Change
Open the client and select Changes in the Planning section of the sidebar.
Find the Change that needs implementation work.
Select + task or Add a task for this change.
Enter the new Task description.
Choose the advisor or client as assignee and add a due date when needed.
Confirm the linked Task appears with the Change and in the client's Tasks view.
The Change control creates a new linked Task. Kerdora does not currently provide a supported action for attaching an already-existing standalone Task to a Change.
Marking a Task complete records that one action. Marking the Change complete records that the recommendation or decision has been carried out or resolved. They are separate judgments.
What clients see
The full advisor Changes workspace and Insights are not portal pages. Add the Changes component to a visible Guide and configure the intended non-hidden categories.
Clients can mark a visible Change complete directly in the Guide. A Task included in a Guide is read-only there; the client completes or reopens it under My Tasks.
Hidden Change categories are excluded from every Changes Guide component. Guide settings can further select or order non-hidden categories, but cannot restore a hidden category.
Example
Change: Consolidate the two legacy IRAs into the selected custodian and invest according to the target portfolio.
Advisor Tasks: Prepare the transfer paperwork; confirm the receiving allocation.
Client Tasks: Sign the transfer forms; upload the final statements.
The Guide shows the recommendation. My Tasks shows the client's concrete actions.
Quick decision
If it describes the better future state, use a Change.
If someone can check it off after doing work, use a Task.
If both are true, create the Change and create new linked Tasks from that Change.
