What Are Changes?

Written by Taylor Stewart

Changes are the planning recommendations and decisions you want to track for a client. A Change describes what should be different in the plan. A Task describes the work someone must complete to make it happen.

Open the client and select Changes in the Planning section of the sidebar. The workspace includes the Change list and an Insights review panel.

What a Change contains

A Change belongs to a category and has a description. It can also have a target date, completion status, order within its category, and linked Tasks.

Write a clear recommendation such as “Increase the 401(k) contribution to 10% beginning with the next payroll cycle.” Avoid vague descriptions such as “Review retirement.”

Categories and views

Categories organize Changes. Practices can use shared categories and client-specific categories. Categories can be reordered or hidden.

Hiding a category does not delete its Changes. Select Show hidden when you need to review hidden categories.

Use By Grouping to organize Changes by category. Use By Timing to organize them by target-date horizon. The status choices are All, Not Completed, and Completed. Filters and views do not change the underlying records.

Changes and Insights

Select View insights to review rule-based findings derived from the client's current data. Findings can be Suggested changes, Observations, or Reminders.

Confirm the source before selecting Add to Changes or Dismiss. Adding a finding creates a Change in the selected visible category. Plan Cleanup is separate; use it to correct missing or inconsistent source data.

Changes and Tasks

Select + task or Add a task for this change when the recommendation requires follow-through. This creates a new Task linked to the Change. Assign it to the advisor or client and set a due date when useful.

Kerdora does not currently provide a supported action for attaching an already-existing standalone Task to a Change.

Completing linked Tasks does not automatically complete the Change. Confirm the financial outcome or decision, then mark the Change complete.

Client visibility

The advisor Changes workspace and Insights are not client portal pages. Add a Changes component to a visible Guide to show selected Changes.

A hidden category is excluded from every Changes Guide component. Guide settings can further select or reorder non-hidden categories, but cannot restore a hidden one.

Clients can mark a visible Change complete directly in a Guide. Client-assigned Tasks appear under My Tasks; a Task displayed inside a Guide is read-only there.

Recommended workflow

  1. Confirm the source facts and analysis.

  2. Review relevant Insights.

  3. Create or refine the Change.

  4. Set a realistic target date.

  5. Create new linked advisor or client Tasks when needed.

  6. Include the appropriate Change content in a visible Guide.

  7. Confirm the outcome before completing the Change.
