To invite a client to the Client Portal, open the client and click Profile in the left sidebar, then Household. Find the person you want to invite, click Invite on their Portal Access row, choose how they should get started, and click Copy Invite Link. Kerdora copies a personal signup link to your clipboard — you send it to the client yourself, by email or however you normally communicate. Kerdora doesn't send the email for you.
The Client Portal is where clients can view their Guide, link their accounts, upload documents, update their cash flow information, and see tasks you've assigned to them.
When to Invite a Client
You don't have to invite clients right away. Many advisors prefer to:
Build out the client's data first — upload documents, review extracted information, and make sure the profile is accurate.
Set up the planning modules — review Goals, identify Changes to Be Made, and build out the Guide.
Polish the Guide — make sure the Guide looks the way you want before the client sees it.
Then invite — once everything is ready, share the invite link so the client logs into a complete, professional experience.
That said, you can invite a client at any point — even during the initial onboarding flow when you first create the client. The invite step appears at the end of the new client setup wizard.
How to Send the Invitation
Open the client from the Clients page.
In the left sidebar, go to Profile > Household.
Find the adult you want to invite (you can invite one or both adults in a household) and click Invite next to Portal Access.
Choose how they should get started:
- Guided Onboarding — the client walks through a short setup flow when they first log in. You also pick a document mode: Upload Only (they can upload files for you) or AI Extract (their uploads run through the Extractor).
- Straight to Guides — skip onboarding; the client lands directly on the Guide you built.
Click Copy Invite Link. The personal signup link is now on your clipboard.
Send the link to your client — paste it into an email, a text, or your meeting notes. The link takes them to a page where they create their login.
What the Client Sees
When a client uses the link and logs in, they land on their Overview — the Guide you built for them. (On your advisor side you build it under Guides in the sidebar; the client portal calls that same deliverable their Overview.) From the portal, clients can:
View their Guide — See all the sections you've included, formatted with your firm's branding (logo and colors).
Link accounts — Connect their bank, investment, and other financial accounts through Account Aggregation for live data.
Upload documents — Send you files directly through the portal.
Update cash flow — Edit their income, expenses, savings, and debt payment information.
See tasks — View any action items you've assigned to them.
Clients cannot access your planning modules, change goal assumptions, use the Extractor, or see anything you haven't explicitly included in their Guide.
Inviting Multiple Household Members
If a client household has two adults (for example, a married couple), you can invite both of them separately. Each person gets their own login and can access the same Client Portal for their household.
What If a Client Loses the Link?
Just copy it again. Go back to Profile > Household, click Invite on the same person, and click Copy Invite Link — then resend it. If the client says a link isn't working, ask them to check they're using the most recent one you sent.
Managing Portal Access
You can manage a client's portal access at any time from their Household information. The Portal Access row on each person shows their current status, and access controls live in the client's profile.
