The Office Tab: Your Advisor-Only Command Center

Written by Taylor Stewart

Office is your advisor-only command center on every client. It collects the work you do between meetings — check the client's overall status, review flagged observations, set up the plan, jot down notes, and track tasks. Clients never see any of it.

You'll find Office in the left sidebar of any client page, near the top. A briefcase icon marks it. Click it to expand its sub-items, and opening Office lands you on Home by default.

The sub-items

Home. Your command center for where the client stands overall: a pulse of net worth, income, spending, savings rate, and surplus, plus quick-action tiles that show your open observation, change, and task counts and link straight to each. Home doesn't merge those into one inline list anymore — the counts live in the tiles, and a dedicated Open Tasks card lists the tasks still on your plate. This is the best spot to start meeting prep. Dora prompts sit right here so you can summarize the plan, see what changed, or prep a meeting agenda in one click. The old Control Panel, Observations page, and review Checklist are all consolidated into this Home view.

Plan Setup. The guided flow for building out a client's plan — household details, accounts, cash flow, and document intake. Use it when you're standing up a new client or filling in gaps. One thing to know: the Plan Setup item only shows in the sidebar while setup is in progress. Once the client's plan setup is complete, it drops off the Office sidebar to keep the finished file clean — the rest of Office stays put. See the onboarding and Plan Setup articles for the full walkthrough.

Notes. The main catch-all. The Notes block is a rich text editor for meeting notes, follow-up reminders, and context you want to remember. The Account Notes section holds per-account notes that show up on each account. There's also a Template Fields panel for editing the variables that drive Guide templates, with a history view so you can see how values have changed over time.

Tasks. The full task list for this client, same items as the task popover in the top-right bar. Better here when you need to bulk edit — reorder, reassign, mark complete, all in one view.

Top-right icons

A few of these same tools are also reachable as icons in the top-right bar of any client page, so you can jump in without going through the sidebar:

  • Notebook icon → Notes (opens a quick modal)

  • Check-square icon (with overdue badge) → Tasks (opens a popover)

  • Plus icon → Add a change

The Notebook and Check-square open lightweight modals if you just need a fast edit without leaving the current page.

What used to live elsewhere

If you're looking for things that moved:

  • Notes used to sit under Profile > Household. They moved to Office > Notes. The top-right notebook icon still opens a quick modal version for fast edits.

  • Tasks were also under Profile > Household. They moved to Office > Tasks. The top-right check-square icon opens a quick popover.

  • Control Panel, Observations, and the Checklist were separate pages. They're now rolled into Office > Home.

The advisor-facing side of the client file (Office, plus the planning work) is consolidated here. The client-facing portal (Overview, Documents, Tasks, Spending, Investments) is what the client sees, and it's separate from your Office view.
