The Client Portal is what your clients see when they log into Kerdora. It's a simplified, branded version of the platform — clients can view their Guides, check their assigned tasks and changes, update their financial data, and link accounts. They can't access any of the planning tools, run calculators, or change assumptions. Here's exactly what your client will experience.
How Clients Access the Portal
After you send a portal invite, the client receives an email with a link to log in. They'll create an account using their email address and a password. Once logged in, they land on the portal — which displays your firm's logo, colors, and name at the top so it feels like your own branded experience.
What Clients See When They Log In
The Client Portal has a sidebar with 5 sections:
Overview
This is the main thing clients see. Any Guide you've toggled to "visible" for that client appears here, along with any Changes to Be Made you've assigned to them. Clients can read through the pages you've built (financial summaries, planning insights, action items) and mark assigned changes as complete. They can't edit Guide content.
If you haven't made any Guides visible yet, the client won't see anything in this section.
Profile
Clients can view and update their own financial data in the Profile section. This includes:
Accounts — View account balances and update them manually
Cashflow — Update income, savings, spending, and debt payment information
Insurance — View insurance policies on file
Household — View household member information and manage tasks
Clients can edit their balances and cashflow numbers, which updates the data in your advisor view as well. If you've enabled account aggregation, clients can also link their external financial accounts from within the Profile section.
Investments
Clients can view their investment portfolio data, including account holdings, asset class breakdown, and allocation charts. This is a read-only view; clients can't change any investment data or assumptions.
Tasks
If you've assigned tasks to a client, they'll see them here. Clients can view task descriptions, due dates, and mark tasks as complete. They can also create their own tasks from the portal.
Documents (Beta)
Clients can upload documents (PDFs, statements, tax returns, etc.) directly through the portal. These documents appear in the Documents section on your advisor side, where you can use the Extractor to pull data from them. This section is currently in beta.
What Clients Can't Do
Clients have no access to:
The Planning tabs (Goals, Investments, Taxes, Insurance, Estate)
The Extractor or any data intake tools
Goal calculators or assumption inputs
Guide editing or template management
Any other client's data
The portal is strictly view-and-update — clients can see what you've shared with them and update their own basic financial information, but they can't run any analysis or change planning assumptions.
Your Branding in the Portal
The portal reflects whatever you've set up in Settings → Appearance. Your logo appears in the top left, and your primary color is used throughout the interface. Your firm name shows up in the portal header. This means the portal feels like your own platform, not a generic third-party tool.
If you haven't customized your branding yet, go to your user menu → Settings and scroll to the Appearance section to upload your logo and set your primary color before inviting clients.
