Printing and Exporting Reports as PDF

Written by Taylor Stewart
Updated this week

You can print any Guide as a PDF directly from Kerdora. Click the printer icon in the top-right corner of the page while viewing a client's Guide, and Kerdora generates a formatted PDF that opens in a new browser tab. From there, you can save it, download it, or print a physical copy.

How to Print a Guide as PDF

  1. Open a client and go to the Overview page (this is where your Guides live), or click the Guides tab in the header.

  2. Make sure you've selected the Guide template you want to print from the dropdown in the header.

  3. Click the printer icon in the top-right corner of the page.

  4. A modal will appear that says "Generating PDF report..." while Kerdora builds the PDF.

  5. When it's ready, the PDF opens automatically in a new browser tab.

  6. From that tab, you can save the file, print it, or share it however you'd like.

What's Included in the PDF

The printed PDF mirrors the Guide you're viewing. It includes:

  • Your firm logo at the top of the report (the one you uploaded in Settings > Appearance)

  • Client name(s) and age(s) in the header

  • All sections from the selected Guide template (net worth summary, goal progress, investment allocation, insurance coverage, estate planning, and anything else your template includes)

  • Your disclosures at the bottom, if you've added them in Settings > Advisor

The PDF is formatted for standard letter-size paper. Sections break cleanly across pages so nothing gets cut off mid-section.

Exporting Investment Holdings as CSV

Separately from Guide printing, you can export a client's investment holdings data as a CSV file.

  1. Go to Planning > Investments inside a client.

  2. Click the Export button in the controls bar at the top of the page. (This button only appears if the client has investment accounts with holdings data.)

  3. A CSV file downloads with one row per holding, including columns for account name, account type, ticker, description, quantity, price, cost basis, dividend yield, expense ratio, and value.

This is useful if you need to pull holdings data into a spreadsheet for further analysis or to share with a client.

The Export button on the Investments page exports raw holdings data as a CSV. To get a formatted, branded report, use the printer icon on the Guide page instead.

Troubleshooting

PDF is blank or won't load

If the PDF opens in a new tab but appears blank, or the tab fails to load:

  • Check your popup blocker. Some browsers block the new tab that Kerdora opens. Look for a blocked popup notification in your browser's address bar and allow it.

  • Make sure the Guide has content. If the Guide template has no components or sections added, the PDF will be empty. Go back to the Guide editor and add the sections you want to include.

  • Try a different browser. Chrome tends to work best for PDF generation. If you're on Safari or Firefox and seeing issues, try Chrome.

  • Clear your browser cache and try again. Occasionally, stale cached data can interfere with PDF rendering.

If the issue persists, reach out to support through the chat widget with a screenshot of what you're seeing.
